Join alumni and students for our reception at the Tower of London New Armouries on Friday 8 June.

The Tower of London is steeped in history; nearly 1,000 years of siege, ceremony, triumphs, tears, blood and even Polar bears! Its stone walls have repelled invasion and protected the kingdom while securing high-profile prisoners and precious contents within. In 1078 William the Conqueror began building the iconic White Tower which, still stands proudly amongst the modern skyscrapers of the city today.

The Tower’s larger-than-life characters, enduring traditions and amazing tales have made the Tower a powerful symbol of London. An ancient fortress and World Heritage Site in central London is a truly special venue for our London Alumni Reception and a magnificent experience at night.

The Yeomen Warders are all incredibly knowledgeable and will be waiting for you to take you to your private tour of the Jewel House; a great way to start your evening.

2018 is a year of exciting anniversaries for the University of London. In 1858 we became the birthplace of long distance learning, allowing students to study for degrees outside of London, spreading higher education across the globe. In 1868, nine women were admitted to the University of London. This was the first time in Britain that women had gained access to university education and this modest event was an immensely significant moment for the University, for women and for society as a whole.

Please join us at this beautiful and historic central London location for a unique night behind the castle walls and a chance to meet your fellow students & alumni and be part of the University's celebrations.

You can now book tickets for this event using the registration form below. All tickets are priced £80.00 each (student, alumni and guests)

Please note that guests must be over 18 years old to attend. There is a smart dress code for this event.

Important event information

• No parking is available within the Tower.
• The Jewel House closes at 7:30pm – there will be no entry after this time.
• Appropriate footwear and clothing should be worn. Jeans and t-shirts are not permitted.
• Guests are to be reminded that wearing high, pointed heels could be difficult due to the cobbled walkways. Flats, wedges or a block heel are more ideal.
• Smoking is not permitted inside any building within the Tower of London but is permitted within the Tower grounds.
