University of London hosts professional development event in Singapore
On 20 October 2017, the University held ‘What Next? Making the most of your career with your University of London degree’, a professional development event organised in collaboration with the University of London alumni group in Singapore. The event gave alumni and student attendees the opportunity to learn real-life lessons on how to take their career to the next level.
Six panellists (including five alumni) took part in a fascinating panel discussion on pursuing further study, starting your own business and growing your career in an established firm.
Following the discussion, guests were divided into three groups for ‘speed learning’ sessions which focussed on each topic, and panellists then moved around in pairs allowing guests to interact and ask direct questions. The event concluded with informal networking over drinks and canapés.
Excellent feedback was received from the attendees, with comments including:
‘The entire evening was truly enjoyable as well as informative. The panellists were very open when it came to sharing their personal experiences, which has been helpful in my decision-making. In particular, I felt that the speed learning sessions were very interactive.’
‘I liked the fact that the panel event was split into three different focuses, with two speakers for each, as it helps us to understand the different perspectives on the specific topic, instead of just hearing about one person’s opinions and experiences. It was a good event!’
The University looks forward to returning to Singapore in April 2018 to host two exclusive events for our alumni, friends and supporters. If you are a University of London graduate, please register or update your contact details to ensure that you receive your invitation.
